THE, The Hirst Experience, is a family-owned business that was founded under the holding company of Textech Cape which began in 1998. Founded by Mark Hirst, Textech Cape originally started out selling textile machinery in SA, with the vision of one day working alongside his 4 children. In 2010, the business diversified into the textile manufacturing sector, servicing the local yarn twisting and package-dye preparation market, this is when his eldest son Jéan joined the company.

Finally in 2021 Mark’s vision came to fruition when both daughters, Jade and Amber joined. A medical division was formed to manufacture woollen orthopaedic socks for our local and international markets. As a family, we all pride ourselves on insisting on top quality, maintaining a high level of professionalism, paying fine attention to detail, and always putting our maximum effort into every item we manufacture – all this while striving to only use locally manufactured raw materials in all our products where available – thus playing an integral part in supporting and promoting local SA businesses as much as we can.

Our socks are made from a Mohair blend. This blend is our secret weapon. This blend allows us to produce THE ultimate performance sock with more natural properties than most other sock brands in the market!

Our factory shop offers the public the opportunity to buy our socks at massively discounted prices. The stock in the shop consists of retailer returns, overruns, end of season stock and a small number of rejects. Experience the best value for money in town!
